Hi,

The company i'm attached to is small with f'time e'yees around 7 and all ladies. My boss wants to limit to maternity leave and allowance up to 3 surviving children. Can he do that and does this protection in EA for maternity covers all employees irregardless whether they r governed by EA or not. The ladies in my company are all earning above 1500.

I still think it is not necessary for the company to do that even though they are not covered by the EA. I tend to think very few modern ladies would like to have more than 3 children in view of the high cost of bringing them up. Do you think that ruling will affect all of you?

Hi Mr. Siew,

Not me. But i can't say the same for others as some of them already have 2/3 kids before joining here. He wants me to include this in handbook and as i'm not really comfortable & familiar with it, i need to know so that we don't get into wrong side of law.

Tks for the fast response. Really appreciate it.

If it were under the EA, that clause in the handbook would be null and void.

Thanks for help. Convinced my boss to maintain it as 5 as per Act.
