24hrs termination due to poor performance

The letter stated after confirmation, termination notice will be a week. Due to poor performance, the staff has already undergone performance improvement plan (perhaps 3-6 months) but still no improvement. Is the employer able to give notice of 24hrs termination or still have to follow the one week notice as stated in letter?

Kindly advise.

Not so simple. Even you give one week notice, the employee still has the right to bring the matter up with the Labour Department or the Industrial Relations Department. Refer to Domestic Inquiry  and Probation for some info.
