Recently I received notice from company that they would undergo retrenchment due to company have financial crisis. On today I received termination letter. Company inform our termination effective as the date letter given which mean within a month. Company just will pay on that one month salary. Is that an appropriate way? Shouldn’t company compensate us not just only that one month salary as they decide to terminate us, not we actually resign. Need some advise here. Thank you.

1. First read up the Employment(Termination and Layoff Benefits)Regulations about termination benefit.

2. If your salary is not more than RM2000, you can go to the Labour Department and bring the issue up with one of the officers there. If your salary more than RM2000, you should approach the Industrial Relations Department for help. You should go in person.
