Asked to work while on MC

Is it legal for a boss to ask his staff to work even he/she is on mc. He tends to do this often and would be disappointed if the staff failed to do as he requested. He would then put out comments like people are too weak for taking mc. We are running on low man power and the turnover is very high in this company.

If the MC is issued by a registered medical practitioner after examination at the expense of the employer, it will not be right for the employer to ask the employee to attend at work on the days duly stated as not fit to work by the said medical practitioner.

The employer has the rights not to accept the MC if it is issued by a medical practitioner not at the expense of the employer.

The employer should appoint a panel clinic for the employees to seek treatment; and if the employees go to a non-panel clinic their MC can be rejected.
