Warning letter for not following work procedure

Dear Experts,

Please advise if we can issue a disciplinary letter for worker who was not following work procedure (SOP)? As I know, poor performing employees should not be punished with warning letters but to be trained more. Please advise. Thanks.

Has the SOP been properly explained and understood by the employees and whether adequate training given to them especially the procedures are of technical nature?

Yes, it is all visible, documented and reminded to the workers.

I think if failure to follow the SOP produced undesirable results and you have good evidence, you can conduct a domistic inquiry and then decide what sort of penalty to be meted out.
