Taking Unpaid Leave instead off Annual Leave

Hi, 

One of my staff, taking her Unpaid Leave instead off Annual Leave to  save her Annual Leave entitlement for long holiday at the end of the year.

Is it right to do that?

Hope someone can advice on this issue.

There is basically no difference in my opinion. Exhausted all annual leave first then unpaid leave equal with take unpaid leave then use annual leave. Yes her can take it but cant see the benefit unless there is some kind of company policy that affect her decision.
