Hi. I started work on Aug 2017. Today i was told I am not entitled to the salary increment which takes place from April 2018, as only employees who are with the company for 6 months since Dec 31 are entitled to the increment. However when i signed my contract i was given a handbook and it it states any employee confirmed before 31 Dec is entitled, even if they have worked only partially that year. When I mentioned this my HR director said, so sorry you were given an outdated employee handbook. It has been updated and now this is the policy. Is this fair?? What can I do to collect what is rightfully mine? Who can i discuss this with?
