Would like to seek advice regarding payroll matters:

Company adopt "working day" policy and open for 5 days a week. (Sat & Sun = rest day)

Thus let say, we have an employee resign on the 15th Oct.

The "working days" for Oct'08 = 11 days

Oct'08 consist of 23 days.

Therefore, calculation of last pay = RM1500 x 11 / 23 days = RM717.39

However, if we use, calendar day method, the calculation will be:

RM1500 x 15 /31 days = RM725.81

Since his salary is Rm1500, a simple calculation will be:

1st Oct to 15 Oct = (1500/31) x 15 = 725.81, so the 2nd half of the month from 16 Oct to 31 Oct = (1500/31) x 16 = 774.19. The total will come to exactly 1500. So, 725.81 should be correct.

Actually, it really does not matter which method you use as long as his total salary for the month will not be more or less than 1500. If you pay more, the company will query you and if you pay less the employee will query you. Better to be exact.

For my company rules, is devided by 26 days, because sunday is not consider as pay day, if your company devide by 31days that is mean your company consider sunday as pay day.
