Length of service benefits in case of transfer from overseas

If someone working elsewhere in Asia for a company for more than ten years transfers to a branch of the same company in Malaysia, what happens in case the Malaysian branch would later need to lay-off the employee within the first two years of employment ? Can the years spent with the company overseas be taken into consideration in the lay-off compensation, meaning counting a total of 13 years resulting in 20 days of compensation with every year of employment including those abroad ? This is understood that the Malaysian branch would hire the employee because of his long previous experience.

Thank you.

If both companies are the same entity, I don't see why the period of service overseas should not be considered. If you have problems about he retrenchment, you should bring the matter up with the Industrial Relations Department
