Deduction of salary due to lateness

Hi there, My company impose a rules that whomever that report to work late will be deduct from their salary accordingly, calculate on pro-rata basis. However, some employees are exempted; such as the senior mananger & all her sales teams, Reason being their work nature do not allow them to do so etc. (but in actual fact all other staffs were questioning on this for years.)Am was wondering;1) Is the company is legally to do so ? Deduct the employees' salary due to such minor misconduct ?2) Excluded sm employee in the rules they impose ?3) After such deduction of salary as an disciplinary action, is the company hv the right still to take any further action ? ie issue a warning letter within the same period.Tq.

Different companies use different ways of maintaining discipline of the workers. What the workers can do is to bring the matter up with the Labour Department if they are not satisfied with the actions of the employer. Action like deduction of salary may be considered as unlawful under the Employment Act.
