Hi there,

I would like to ask on the general criteria's used to assess performance of employee. My company recently conducted annual appraisal and the form for appraisal is very general with ratings score from 1 - 10. The criteria's evaluation are as follows:-

1) Job knowledge

2) It and/or technical skills (related to work)

3) Quality of work

4) Quantity of work

5) Planning and organisational skills

6) Meeting deadlines

7) Interpersonal skills

8) Communication skills

9) Discipline

10)Decision making

11) Leadership skill

12) Attitude and behaviour

13) Reliability and responsibility

14) Teamwork and co-operation

15) Initiave and resourcefullness

During the appraisal, my superior has provide low marks ( 3 and 4 ) for each criteria, therefore the overall result was below average (Final rating: 2). I have contested the low marks given but explanation given by superior is his ratings are final. I have signed disagree on the appraisal forms.

The question is will the industrial court accept this kind of appraisal since I believe the Company should have appraise employee based on the employee's job description.

Industrial Court only deals with dismissal cases. You can bring the matter up only when you are dismissed due to performance issues or whatever. What you can do may be to try yo improve in your work that's all.
