During probation need to give 3 month notice

Recently I had signed a offer of employment without checking it properly. It stated;

Your service with the firm may be terminated by either party giving to the other written notice of three (3) months and after your confirmation, the period notice required will be three (3)  months. 

I only notice it when I tender my resignation and my boss mention I have to give 3 month notice even I just started to work for 1 week. As I know before confirmation usually will only required 24 hrs notice. Can I know is this legal? Do I really have to tender 3 month notice?

From that clause, It is quite clear that 3 months notice must be given.
