Burnt public holiday

I have been working in a hotel as Jr assistant manager since 4 January 2016, I have only taken one Public holiday replacement holiday, and I have not been able to take the rest as we have been short staff, I was just told today that my PH replacement days would be burnt as I did not take them within 30 days of the PH, can the company do this??

If they ask you to clear it, you clear it, that's all. Next time, don't accept replacement and want them to pay for working on public holidays.
