Maternity allowance and annual leave entitlement for unwed mother

Hi,

I have worked with a company for more than 5 years and my salary is above RM3500. I am pregnant and not married. However my company Book Policy states that only married women are entitled for Maternity Allowance and Maternity Leave (unwed is not entitled for allowances and its unpaid maternity leave). 

I would like to check if this is acceptable according to labour law /if unwed mothers are entitled,have the right to these benefits as long as they meet the working period requirement.

I don't think that clause in the company handbook is valid. Female employees are entitled to paid maternity benefit, married or not married. You can consult the Labour Department by giving them a call.
