Misconduct Accountability Period

Recently i've violated the safety rules at my workplace and the company found it out after. The security contacted my supervisor with the possibility of disciplinary actions. However, they have not get back to me or given me any notice of any actions to be taken for the misconduct. I read that safety rules misconduct is considered to be major and my question is that how long can I be held accountable for my misconduct if my company failed to take any further action timely?

I can only suggest that you do some research in the Internet about the term like "condonation". It is quite a big subject. If you google the word  "condonation", you can have plenty to read about.
