Hi everyone, thanks in advance for your help about this question.

I am a French working for more than a year in Malaysia under a Malaysian contract. I work for this company for more than 9 years, I just transferred to here a year ago. In this Malaysian contract my commencement date is 1 July 2015 but it is also written "For length of service purposes, your original date of 2 July 2007 will be recognized". My notice period in this contract is 3 months.

For economic reasons and not for poor performance I risk to be layoff. If that the case:

  1. How many months of salary should I receive in compensation. (I heard something about 3 months notice period + 1 month by year of seniority?)
  2. What should I do to be sure I follow the right process in order to get this compensation?

Thank you

Should that happen, if your salary is more than RM2000, you can approach the Industrial Relations Department for help.
