Under probation and resigned but voluntarily extended - company refuse to pay salary of the period extended

Hi, I was under probation with a company and tendered my resignation within my probation period. I have written in my email that my last working day was 30th of April, 2016. While the company was short-handed, I realised that I could not finish my work by the 30th of April so I voluntarily extended until the 6th of May, 2016. Am I supposed to be paid for that week I have voluntarily extended? Because the company said that they are not paying me anything as I have voluntarily extended my stay and working extra is on my own expense. They only told me this today, when I questioned them on the one week salary which I have not recieved.  Thank you.

In my opinion, your notice to 30 April stands. Since they did not ask you to extend to 6th May, I am not sure whether they should pay or not. You can consult the Labour Department see what they say about it.
