I've been working in this company for many years and this is the 1st time my company is offering us all a company trip. the trip is bout a week long and recently we found out that company is going to deduct our annual leave on the days we are off work during the trip.
I've been asking around my friends who they have yearly company trip whether their company deduct their annual leave or not and they all say its a gift and benefit the company wish to reward to the staff and not suppose to deduct leaves.
I personally feel if the company wants to reward us shouldn't deduct annual leave as annual leave is our own leave for us to use for our own personal matters. it wouldn't be fair for those that have to deduct unpaid leave as they have used up theirs and left less than a week leave.
Kindly advice does company has the right to deduct our annual leave?
Yes, I tend to think leave should not be deducted. Consult the Labour Department and get an official opinion.
