Disparity in Termination Notice between Company and Employee during Probation & Confirmed

Hi KL Siew,

I would like to ask whether (for prospective employee that is above RM2,000 in salary) is it legal that during the probation period for the termination notice from employee is 1 month whilst company is only 2 weeks? Old policy was both having same period and company is coming out with new policy.

How about when it is confirmed?

Under the EA notice period should be the same for both parties. For new employees, try to negotiate for the notice period to be the same before accepting employment. But I think disparity in notice period should not be much of a problem.
