Letter of employment

Dear Sir, 

kindly advise the following scenario:

1)If letter of employment is issued by a holding company but the employee concerned is physically working in the subsidiary company and drawing salary from subsidiary company. is the letter of employment valid? 

2) what should the employee and employer need to do in order to make the employment valid ? Or they do not need to do anything?

I think the employment contract is valid. He might have been seconded to work in the subsidiary. If  he is not sure about his position, he can always ask the holding company whose employee he is.
