Deduction of salary

Is company can deduct employee salary for lateness of 10 minutes? For example, working hour is 8.30AM & the company do not have punch card machine, the employees have to turn on his own computer & send the email to the manager, if email sent after 8.40AM, the manager told him and sent an email to inform him that will deduct him RM 100 on salary for 3 times lateness of 10 minutes email sent.

Is it legal? Please advise & thanks!

To me, it is quite odd about this email sending thing. Well, if you think it is not legal for him to make such deduction, you can choose not to comply with his ruling. Make it a test case. If he deducts your salary, you can bring the matter up with the authorities and let them decide whether it is really legal or not.
