Hi,

i have some queries here.Should both parties(Employer and Employee) hold a copies of emplyment contract?

Is it normal that my company hold the only copy of the contract saying that if i want to have a read during random time i can go to them and read it in front of them?

That's an unusual way of doing things. If that is the way, how about you demand to read the contract every week?

Hi Siew, that's what i felt also...

So is the contract valid? in the sense that only 1 party hold the contract?

And in Malaysia Law, do it need both parties to have a copy of the employment contract for it to be valid?

Besides, if we were offered a contract, can i request for a copy of it so that i can read it at home?

Yes, by law, the employer should give you a copy of the contract. Bring the matter up with the Labour Department.
