Dear MyLabourLaw,

My interpretation of claim is documents are required to support the expenses made in event of asking for reimbursement.

While allowance is a fixed amount of payment with or without any documents required.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

In the 2nd month of my employment in this new company, I was asked to present receipts in order to get my allowance through.

Kindly advise if this is fair?

Thank you.

That may be the practice of your new company. It may be their practice that the allowance is based on actual expenses basis like petrol allowance, up to the allowed limit. Clarify from them. Ask your colleagues, they may be able to throw some light on this.
