I've tendered my resignation early this month and due to my work responsibility (in finance),  the company has requested me to sign a NDA /confidentiality agreement to prevent me from disclosing any company information after my resignation.

Does the company has the rights to make me sign such NDA?  (our employment letter has a clause of 'Confidentiality' stated - you shall not, without express permission and except in the normal and proper course of business whether during the term of your employment or upon it's termination for whatever reason, disclose, reveal or make available to any unauthorized person, customers, third parties or others any information, materials, document, trade secret, concerning the business and affairs of the Company)

Do you think the confidentiality agreement really serve any purpose? Would it really affect you even you signed it? If you think so, I suggest you consult a lawyer for advice.
