I am a Filipino who is married to a Malaysian. The immigration has approved my permit to work since there is a company who is willing to hire me as an office staff. My query is, am I entitled for EPF and SOCSO? Do my employment status is like the foreign worker or same as the local worker? Is there any law set for us employed foreigner married to a citizen? Please do advise. Thank you so much.

1. You may not be liable for EPF and SOCSO.

2. If your salary is not more than RM2000, you are covered by the Employment Act and enjoy benefits in the Act just like local workers. If you are not covered by the Act, you better have all lthe terms and conditions of service properly negotiated and put in the your contract of service before you accept it.

Consult the Labour Department for more details.
