terminating an employee on probationary period for absenteeism

Can I terminate an employee (and pay her out) for being absent from work too often during her probationary period?  While I have sympathy for her because she's been on leave for a family member's serios illness as well as her own flu, I need someone that can get the work done.  It's been about three weeks and she's been gone 75% of the time. She also had a no call, no show one day. Do I need to give her more time to improve and if so, how much more time?

Give her some warnings and there is no improvement you will have to terminate her with notice or compensation as you are willing to pay.
